First time on the mat?

Welcome. Whether you're brand new to yoga or returning after a long time away, here's everything we'd want you to know before you walk in.

Studio etiquette.

Silence your phone. Slip off your shoes at the door. Stash your stuff in the cubbies. Make yourself at home — you are home.

How to register.

You'll need a free Punchpass account. Drop-ins are welcome on a first-come, first-serve basis, but pre-registering helps us prepare.

Online: credit card. In studio: credit card, cash, check, Venmo (@PAINTEDLOTUS), or PayPal. If you pay outside Punchpass, allow up to 24 hours for us to manually create your pass.

Frequently asked.

I'm new — or returning — to yoga. Where do I begin?

Three good options:

  1. Try a private session with Clarissa first, so we can ease you in at your pace. (Or grab the Absolute Beginner Bundle — three privates + a consult for $195.)
  2. Use the First-Timer's Single Class Pass — $20 for one class.
  3. Or try the Welcome Pass — three classes in 30 days for $50, so you can find your rhythm.

I'm physically active. Will a "beginner" class be enough?

Yes. Even fitness folks benefit from slower-paced classes. They give you time to learn pose names, find variations that support you, and discover that mindfulness and relaxation are deceptively challenging skills in their own right. We promise you won't be bored.

What should I bring?

Yourself. We provide every prop — mats, blocks, bolsters, blankets, straps. If you prefer your own mat, bring it. Water and hot tea are on offer at the studio.

How should I dress?

Comfortable pants or shorts that allow stretching. A somewhat fitted top at the waist — loose tops "ride up" in inversions. For Tai Chi or Qigong, wear socks or shoes specifically designated for the practice.

Should I pre-pay or register ahead?

Yes, whenever possible. It helps the teachers prepare. But drop-ins are always welcome.

Do I really need a Punchpass account?

Yes — and the bonus is that it gives you access to our video library between studio visits.

I'm recovering from injury or have specific considerations.

Check with your healthcare provider first, and then call Clarissa directly. We'll talk through what's right for you — whether that's a private session, a particular class, or a slow on-ramp.

Will I be filmed or photographed?

Never without permission. This is simply not something we do in our classes. Your privacy on the mat is sacred.
